UAE Cabinet Greenlights Establishment of Board of Directors for Emirates Drug Establishment
During the UAE Cabinet meeting, a resolution was endorsed to establish the board of directors for the Emirates Drug Establishment, with Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, appointed as the Chairman. The board comprises Dr. Maha Taysir Barakat as Vice Chairman, along with members including Dr. Essa Abdulfattah Kazim, Badr Al-Olama, Dr. Amer Ahmad Sharif, Dr. Farhan Malik, and Professor Christopher Evans. A Youth representative, nominated by the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, is also included. Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned the appointment of Dr. Fatima Alkaabi to assume the role of Director General for the establishment. The primary objective of the Emirates Drug Establishment is to reinforce the UAE’s standing as a global hub for pharmaceutical and medical industries. This involves promoting research and development initiatives, fostering an environment conducive to pharmaceutical investments. Furthermore, the establishment aims to contribute significantly to the production, development, and export of high-quality medical and pharmaceutical products. It is committed to ensuring the accessibility, quality, effectiveness, and safety of these products, thereby playing a pivotal role in advancing the nation’s healthcare sector.
